The question about price is the most frequently asked of all, and it’s almost always answered badly. Sometimes a number is thrown around that refers only to the hair, sometimes one that refers only to the work, and sometimes one that mixes both. This page separates them cleanly: the calculator above with the real hair price, and down here everything that drives it, plus the costs hardly anyone thinks about beforehand.

How Much Do Human Hair Extensions Cost?

Human hair extensions cost two things: the hair and the application at the salon. At EchtHaar Direkt, the hair starts at 184,33 € for 100 g keratin Bondings in 40 cm and increases with length and amount. Depending on the method, application typically costs 80 to 300 euros at market rates; Clip-ins you put in yourself.

Every Price Consists of Two Parts

The first part is the hair. It’s priced by length, amount, texture, tip fullness, strand thickness, and color. You can determine this part down to the cent before you order anything, and that’s exactly what the calculator above does.

The second part is the work at the salon. That’s set by your stylist, not by us. All we can tell you is what’s common in Germany, so you can put a quote into perspective. Anyone who combines both parts into a single number almost always obscures one of them, and usually it’s the hair.

Our sets start at 40 cm; we don’t make anything shorter, since below that it would be too short for an extension. The entry point is 184,33 € for keratin Bondings with 100 g in 40 cm; every additional length up to 130 cm is available in 5 cm steps.

What Really Drives the Hair Price

Length and amount are obvious, the four other factors are not. Here they are with their real impact, read directly from our pricing system:

What you chooseEffect on the hair price
Texture: Straightkein Aufschlag
Texture: Slightly wavyplus 4 Prozent
Texture: Normally wavyplus 8 Prozent
Texture: Very wavyplus 12 Prozent
Texture: Permedplus 16 Prozent
Texture: Curlyplus 20 Prozent
Tip fullness 50%kein Aufschlag
Tip fullness 80%plus 19 Prozent
Tip fullness 95-100%plus 38 Prozent
Color range: Blackkein Aufschlag
Color range: Brownplus 2 Prozent
Color range: Blondeplus 4 Prozent

These values come live from our pricing system. If something changes there, this table changes with it.

Why texture costs money: Straight hair is the standard case. With us, waves and curls don’t come from the head but from the processing, and the stronger the reshaping, the more elaborate it is. From strongly wavy upward, chemical processes are used to help; that’s the case with every provider and it should be said honestly.

Why tip fullness is the most expensive dial: At 50 percent tip fullness, the hair tapers off naturally toward the ends, just like your own hair does. At 95 to 100 percent, the strand is the same thickness all the way to the tip, which requires significantly more raw hair in full length, and long raw hair is the scarce resource. If you’re torn between more grams and more tip fullness: with long hair, tip fullness almost always wins.

Why strand thickness barely adds to the price but matters a lot: Whether your weight is spread across 100 thick or 250 fine strands changes the hair price only slightly. For your own hair, though, it’s the most important difference of all, because the pulling weight is distributed across more attachment points. Details can be found in the strand thickness guide.

In big cities these ranges tend to sit at the upper end, in smaller towns more toward the lower end. Strikingly cheap all-in offers are usually not a bargain: they either contain very little hair or coated hair that tangles after a few washes.

The Follow-Up Costs Nobody Mentions Beforehand

Moving up every eight to twelve weeks

The biggest ongoing expense. Your own hair grows, the attachment moves down with it and has to be loosened and reapplied. The hair itself stays, you only pay for the work. For exactly how often, see the moving-up guide.

Reordering when too little was calculated

The most annoying expense, because it’s avoidable. If you order too little, you buy twice, and reorders from a different batch can differ slightly with blended colors. Better to calculate correctly once, see the amount guide.

Silicone-free care

The smallest expense, but the one with the greatest leverage. Care products containing silicone applied directly to the attachment will loosen it. The wrong care ends up costing you an entire set; the right care costs a few euros a month.

Removal at the end

Usually charged per strand and therefore underestimated. With 200 fine strands, a noticeable sum adds up despite the low price per strand. What happens during removal is explained in the removal guide.

Where You Can Save Without It Backfiring

Where it makes sense to save: on tip fullness, if you want a naturally tapered look anyway. On length, because every extra centimeter means more raw hair and 60 cm looks better on many people than 75 cm. You can see where each length ends in the length preview. And on texture, because straight hair can be waved with a curling iron in ten minutes, but not the other way around.

Where you shouldn’t save: on quantity, because too little hair looks thin and you end up reordering. On strand thickness, because strands that are too thick pull at the roots on fine hair. And on hair quality, because coated hair tangles after a few washes and then has to be completely replaced. You can find out how to recognize good quality in the quality guide.

How tip fullness affects the price is explained in our answer to the question “What does tip fullness mean, and is 50% enough?”

Frequently asked questions about costs

How much does it cost to have extensions fitted at the salon?

That depends on the salon, the method and the effort involved. The usual market rates in Germany are 150 to 300 euros for a full set of Bondings, 120 to 220 euros for Tapes and 80 to 160 euros for sewing in wefts; moving them up later costs another 100 to 200 euros. Ask your salon about both items beforehand: fitting and re-fitting. You put Clip-in extensions in yourself, so there are no salon costs.

What do extensions at the salon cost in total?

Hair plus labor. For a full set of Bondings in medium length, the labor usually comes to between 150 and 300 euros, plus the hair price from the calculator above. A single figure without knowing the length and quantity is always a guess. What the hair itself costs is shown in the Bonding Extensions category by length and quantity.

Why does the same length cost different amounts?

Because quantity, texture, tip fullness and color all factor in. Two 60 cm sets can differ by more than a hundred euros without either of them being overpriced.

Are Clip-in extensions cheaper?

Overall, yes, because the salon labor is eliminated entirely and there is no moving up. The hair itself costs about the same. However, you don’t wear them permanently.

How often do I pay for moving up?

Every eight to twelve weeks. Over the course of a year, this is the biggest expense after the first set, and it is almost never mentioned in the first quote.

Are the prices in the calculator the final prices?

The hair price comes live from the same source as the configurator and is therefore up to date. It becomes binding where you place your order, meaning in the configurator itself. The salon range is a guideline, not a quote.

Is there an installment payment option?

Yes, the usual payment methods are available to choose from during checkout; purchase on invoice is reserved for business customers. You can see which ones are offered to you at checkout.

Can you pay for extensions on invoice or in installments?

Yes. In the checkout area, Klarna (invoice, installment purchase or instant bank transfer) is available to choose from. Which option suits which order and how the process works is explained in detail under Paying for extensions on invoice or in installments.

How much does sewing in wefts cost?

The hair: 100 g of wefts in 40 cm cost 211,00 €, in 60 cm 287,00 €. The stylist charges separately for sewing them in, usually by time, one to three hours for a full set. All Weft types and surcharges are listed in the Wefts guide. You can order them under Human hair wefts, with length and quantity freely selectable.

How much does a hair extension cost in the first year?

Once for the hair (calculator above), once for the fitting at the salon, plus the re-fitting depending on the method: Bondings every 8 to 12 weeks, Tapes every 4 to 8, Wefts every 6 to 8 weeks. The hair itself lasts 1 to 2 years with good care, so it isn’t bought new every time. How often each method needs to go to the salon is explained under How long do extensions last.

How much does hair thickening cost?

Less than lengthening, because fewer grams are needed: for fine hair 100 to 125 g instead of 150 g and more. The calculator above shows the hair price when you set the smaller quantity; what to keep in mind for pure thickening is explained under Hair thickening.

Conclusion

Separate hair and labor, and every quote becomes comparable. You decide the hair price yourself and see it above down to the cent. Your salon determines the labor, and the ranges on this page tell you whether a quote is within the usual range. And factor in the moving up from the start, so there are no surprises later.
