Anyone who wants to buy real hair to process it themselves has come to the right place. Raw hair, also called bulk hair, is real hair in its original state: neither dyed nor lightened, not chemically straightened, without silicone and without synthetic sealing. If you want to buy raw hair, you get the material here to process yourself, in lengths from 40 to 130 centimeters. Remy real hair: the cuticle layer lies in one direction.

For hairdressers and businesses that make their own sets, and for anyone who needs a color that is not available ready-made. Raw hair requires work: it still has to be processed into strands, tapes, wefts or a wig. Naturally curly hair in a bundle is available on request as cut hair.

Why raw hair is easy to process further

Raw hair is real hair without any bonding, sorted and laid in the direction of growth. Because no keratin, tape or seam has been applied yet, you can process it yourself into bondings, tapes, wefts or a wig, choosing length, quantity, texture and color to your own specifications.

Features

  • 100% real hair with consistent cuticle direction
  • Available in several natural and colored shades
  • No silicone, no synthetic sealing
  • Can be dyed, straightened and styled
  • Full volume, natural movement
  • Ideal for wigs, extensions or custom projects

Commercial quantities

Quantity discounts apply from 500 grams. Salons and businesses register via the business form; accounts are activated manually so that no wholesale prices are publicly visible.

Payment

You can pay on invoice or in installments via Klarna, as well as by PayPal, credit card, Apple Pay or bank transfer. Business customers can additionally pay on invoice via Billie.

What “Remy” really means

Remy does not describe origin or a quality grade, but an alignment. In Remy hair, all strands point in the same direction, just as they grew on the head: root to root, tip to tip. Each hair has a cuticle layer that lies from top to bottom like roof tiles.

If individual hairs lie the wrong way in the set, their cuticles rub against those of neighboring hairs. This feels soft at first, but after a few washes it tangles from the inside out, usually first at the nape. If extensions suddenly tangle after four weeks, in the vast majority of cases the problem is not care but sorting.

Important to know: “Remy” is not a protected term. Nobody checks who uses the word. It is not proof of quality, but a claim that you need to verify.

Untreated means the cuticle layer is still there

There are two ways to prevent hair from tangling. The honest way is clean sorting. The cheap way is an acid bath that completely strips the cuticle layer, followed by a silicone coating.

Such hair is initially mirror-smooth and shiny, because silicone smooths everything. After about five to ten washes the coating is gone, and underneath lies hair without any protective layer, and then things go quickly: dull, straw-like, impossible to comb. That is why experience reports after two weeks are worthless. A meaningful assessment only becomes possible after the second month.

Raw hair is exactly the opposite approach: never lightened, not chemically straightened, no silicone, no synthetic sealing. If you choose a texture for raw hair, note this: strongly wavy, permed and curly hair is chemically shaped, while straight and slightly wavy hair is not. That is why it can still be dyed later in directions that are no longer possible with pre-treated hair.

Tip fullness in percent — and why the ends decide

Natural hair does not grow evenly: every strand contains short and long hairs. How strongly the short hairs are sorted out determines how full the hair stays at the ends.

  • Unsorted — all lengths mixed, barely sorted. Full at the root, tapering to a point at the bottom.
  • 50 percent — short hairs largely removed. Well filled far down.
  • 80 percent — full ends, slight taper toward the tip.
  • 95 to 100 percent — hand re-sorted, very labor-intensive. Almost uniform thickness right to the tip.

The more strongly the hair is sorted, the more hair is discarded and the more expensive the set becomes. This is the real price difference between cheap and good hair.

With us this value is called tip fullness, and you choose it yourself rather than guessing: 50 percent well filled · 80 percent full ends · 95 to 100 percent completely filled. If you have to choose between more grams and more tip fullness, for long lengths the tip fullness almost always works better — it looks fuller and does not put extra weight on the root.

Five checks you can do yourself

  • The water test. Place a single strand in a glass of water. Real hair absorbs water and sinks slowly, synthetic hair stays floating on top. Exposes mixed goods.
  • The friction test. Run a strand between thumb and index finger from tip to root. It must feel smoother in one direction than the other. If it feels exactly the same in both directions, the cuticle layer is either removed or covered by silicone.
  • The wash test. Wash a sample strand three times with clear, silicone-free shampoo. If the feel changes significantly, a coating was applied.
  • The tip test. Hold the strand against the light and look at the lower third. If it visibly tapers to a point, the tip fullness is low. This is not automatically bad — it just needs to be reflected in the price.
  • The heat test. Hold a single hair with some distance above the sink to a flame. Real hair smolders and smells burnt, synthetic hair melts into a hard bead and smells of plastic.

Why sets made of several colors tend to tangle more

A point that hardly anyone openly mentions: as soon as a set contains several colors, the hair comes from several sources. Different donor heads mean different hair structures, different diameters and slightly different behavior when drying. That such sets lie more tightly against each other and form knots more quickly is a property of the material, not a manufacturing defect.

That is why a single-color set is the higher-quality choice. If you still want an ombré, a two-tone or a three-tone set, you should know this and decide consciously. And a common misunderstanding to clear up right away: an ombré is not a balayage. With an ombré the transition is deliberately more pronounced, while with a balayage the strands are placed finer and softer. This is the most common reason for color complaints of all.

Curls: the question nobody likes to answer

Strongly wavy hair, perm-like texture and curls are in most cases not created on the donor head, but chemically. This is standard in the industry and not a flaw, but it has to be put on the table, because chemically reshaped hair is more sensitive and needs more care.

We note this for every affected texture: straight and slightly wavy hair comes without this note, from strongly wavy onwards it is stated. If a provider sells curls and says nothing about it, that is more interesting information than any quality seal. Everything about this is explained in How to recognize good hair.

Frequently asked questions about raw hair and bulk hair

What is the difference between raw hair and finished extensions?

Raw hair is the material in its original state — it still has to be processed into strands, tapes, wefts or a wig. Finished extensions are already bonded, taped or sewn. At the same length, raw hair is usually more expensive because it has never been lightened.

Who is bulk hair worth it for?

For hairdressers and businesses that make their own sets, and for anyone who needs a color that is not available ready-made. It requires work — but in return you determine every property yourself.

Is Remy hair automatically good?

No. Remy only means that all hairs are sorted in the same growth direction. It says nothing about sorting by length, about origin, or about whether the hair has been chemically treated. And the term is not protected.

Can I dye raw hair myself?

Yes, that is one of the main reasons to buy it. Because it has never been lightened, the structure is intact and it takes color more evenly than pre-treated hair. For darker shades this applies without restriction; when lightening, it remains a chemical strain.

Are there quantity discounts for salons?

Yes, from 500 grams. Salons and businesses register via the business form — accounts are activated manually so that no wholesale prices are publicly visible.

What lengths are available?

Nineteen lengths in five-centimeter steps, from 40 to 130 centimeters — including the extra lengths that are otherwise hard to find. To see where your desired length ends, see Extension lengths from 40 to 130 cm.

Frequently asked questions about raw hair and bulk hair

What is raw hair or bulk hair?

Unprocessed human hair: neither dyed nor chemically straightened or lightened, with the cuticles all running in the same direction. If you choose heavily wavy, permanent wave, or curly, the structure is shaped chemically; straight and slightly wavy are not. It is processed further into strands, tapes, or wefts, or dyed by you.

Who is raw hair intended for?

For hairdressers and salons that make their own sets, and for anyone who needs a color that doesn't exist ready-made. Raw hair takes work; it is not a finished set.

What lengths and quantities are available?

40 to 130 cm in five-centimeter steps, 100 to 500 g per order, texture from straight to curly, color from the color chart or a custom color matched to your photo.

Are there per-kilo prices for salons?

Yes. Volume tiers apply from 500 g, and per-kilo prices are available for 1, 3 and 5 kg. Activation as a business customer is done via the business form with proof of business registration.

Why is raw hair more expensive than pre-treated hair?

Because it has never been lightened. Every lightening process damages the structure; unprocessed hair is stronger and can later still be colored in directions that are no longer possible with pre-treated hair.

“I'm truly more than satisfied! 🤍 The hair is really nice and thick from top to bottom and doesn't get thinner toward the ends, which is something I've unfortunately experienced with many other extensions. It feels incredibly soft and really like my own hair, not at all artificial or straw-like. I was also especially impressed by the app. It's super quick to find your way around, you can order in a totally relaxed way and …”

"I've been wearing the new extensions for almost two weeks now and I'm really thrilled. The hair is very fine and soft, but still has a beautiful fullness. They're also super easy to style, and the ends look gorgeous too. I only had to dye the color slightly darker before applying them – but better that way than the other way around. Next time I'll just order a shade darker. 😊 Especially …“
